Electronic Communications Engineering programs prepare students to use mathematics and science to design electronic systems and new ways of using electronics to communicate. With a degree in Electronic Communications Engineering, the students look forward to work as an electronics communications engineer, electrical engineer or electronics engineer.
Ever increasing pace of development in electronics, audio and video communications systems and the automation in industry have made an electronic engineer a catalyst for change of modern society. Electronics gadgets and communication systems of present age have tremendously improved the quality of life.
Electronics & Communication Engineers are responsible for a wide range of technologies, from portable music players to the Global Positioning System (GPS), which can continously provide the location, for example, of a vehicle. Electronics engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electronic equipment such as broadcast and communications systems. Electronics engineers specialize in areas such as communications, signal processing, and control systems or have a specialization within one of these areas-control systems or aviation electronics, for example.
This course aims to train engineers as creative designers of electronic products and systems. This programme is designed with the belief that any engineer concerned with the development of new electronic product needs to integrate the functional design, industrial design, equipment packaging and manufacturing. The scope of application is so vast that one cannot think of any field where Electronics does not find any utility. There are very few institutes in India, providing specialized training programme on Electronics Design Technology with emphasis on practical design and problem solving skills.
The Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering post-graduate program prepares its students in the areas of Analogue & Digital Mobile & Satellite Communication, Antenna & Propagation, Telephone, Information Theory, Data Communication, and Electromagnetic waves & Optical Communications.
Eligibility
Candidates with B.Tech/B.E/AMIE, degree holders in ECE/EIE or M.Sc in Electronics with first class marks, valid GATE or PGET score will be alloted admission as per the norms and guidelines of West Bengal University of Technology.
CAREER PROSPECTS
The demand for Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering is growing rapidly and job opportunities for highly qualified post graduates are multi-faceted. They can work as Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Controller, Research, Design & Development Consultants, Entrepreneurs and Teachers. Persons gaining this qualification will be able to design and validate/evaluate electronics and communications equipment and systems, manage risk, estimate and manage projects and provide technical advice/sales. Electronic Technical Officers carry out complex technical functions related to the Research, Design, Manufacture, Installation and Maintenance of electronic equipment. They can opt their career in one of the following areas-
- Installing equipment used for the transmission and reception of voice, image and data signals.
- Carrying out maintenance on communications equipment.
- Installing equipment used for audio and video recording, processing and reproduction.
- Carrying out maintenance on TV's
- Carrying out final assembly and adjustment of complex assemblies in advanced electronic manufacturing.
Qualified engineers will be able to work in TV and radio stations, emergency service communications systems and companies that manufacture and repair communications equipment.
